Meet Rahel Boon-Dejene: Our Inspiring Leader and CEO

Born in Ethiopia and educated in Europe, our founder Rahel Boon-Dejene was confronted with global inequality. After obtaining her MBA with honour in UK, she became a pioneer in promoting social enterprise model in The Netherlands and Africa. Driven by her clear vision of a future where social and sustainable business operations has become commonplace, she founded RBD Group.

She and her peers saw a chance to redeem the value of the experiences gained in dealing with societal issues and put these hard-earned solutions into effect to help transform the way we do business. RBD has since grown into an international, solution-driven body. For over a decade, RBD’s team has been successful in providing scalable social-, economic and environment-driven projects. With a head office in the Netherlands and daughter companies in Ethiopia, RBD is in a unique position to bridge continental divide and stimulate fruitful endeavours and lasting partnerships. Key aspects of the CSRD include scope expansion to cover all large companies and those listed on EU regulated markets, harmonization and standardization of reporting processes, digitalization of reporting using tools like the European Single Electronic Format (ESEF), emphasis on reporting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) matters, and verification requirements for reported sustainability information. It’s important to refer to official European Commission publications or reliable news sources for the most up-to-date and specific information on the CSRD.

If you are not familiar with the CSRD requirements you should be. The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive requirements is a regulation that impacts around 50,000 companies in the EEA. This includes listed companies, large companies, SMEs and non-EU companies with a significant presence in the EU. The CSRD requires companies to report on a range of sustainability topics, such as environmental matters, social issues, human rights, anti-corruption, and diversity on company boards. By complying with these requirements, companies can demonstrate their commitment to sustainability and gain various benefits.
